Bruce is a 3 year old Lab/GSD/Rottweiler/Boxer mix. He came to us with dog and human reactivity issues. The problem initially started with dogs around their building, which progressed to dogs on the streets, to dogs that he knew well. Bruce even attacked a dog he used to get along with, completely unprovoked. Which caused tension in his owner’s friendship with the owner of the dog he attacked. Another issue involved Bruce resource guarding his home. His owner would have to give him multiple corrections before he would allow anyone to enter. The stress of worrying about Bruce’s reactivity towards guests severely impacted his owner’s quality of life as they were used to having guests visit frequently.
Bruce stayed with us for our Rehabilitation Board & Train program. During his time with us we provided him with structure and leadership to help guide him towards a more balanced mind. We did this by establishing a solid line of communication through proper training tools and began to hold him accountable to his own actions. After training, he is able to walk on a loose leash past other dogs, and his owner is able to put him in the “Place” command whenever they have guests.
The last update we received from his owner: “This is Bruce living his best life. We passed TONS of dogs on our hike and he was such a gentleman. Seattle K9 Command made today possible. Thank you!”
